Today is the day. It’s National Self Injury Awareness Day. This day is kind of emotional for me because this is something that is directly for me. As most of you know, I dealt with self injury for a long time. I cut myself for a long time and no one knew for a long time. People aren’t and weren’t aware that this is a rising issue. There are people in our own lives that are struggling and are hurting and we just don’t know. Maybe it’s your sister, your best friend, your parent, your boyfriend. Everyone knows someone. Self injury isn’t always noticeable but it’s there and people are hurting. We need to be doing everything we can to make ourselves aware of this and to be there for them. We need to encourage, love, and support them. We need to point them to Jesus because it is Him that we find hope, healing, and freedom. The people in my life became aware of the fact that I was struggling because I told them. I knew I needed help and because they knew, they were able to carry me to Jesus like the men in the bible who carried the paralytic right to Jesus’ feet. I’m here today because they brought me to the One I needed the most. I urge you to carry and guide those people to the one who offers hope and healing. If you are one of those people, seek help in Jesus because He is the one who can restore you. Let’s move and act. Together.
